It’s clear from the outset why Cheshire Electrical Supplies Ltd is a successful business and this year they are celebrating a milestone in supplying trade customers. Still shining bright after 30 years both directors, Randall Evans and Harold Gillespie, are very customer focussed and as keen as ever to remain at the cutting edge.
The core business supplies cables and electrical installation equipment to the trade however they do have a retail outlet. Everything electrical can be found here from a 13 amp plug to 3-phase switch gear. The firm is part of a large buying group that enables them to retain a competitive edge and also allows them to network with other suppliers. The firm is very particular about the suppliers it chooses to deal with and this ensures that they continue to sell value for money, quality products.
Harold said that the network also allowed them to ‘keep their finger on the pulse’. He continued “…it’s easy to become a dinosaur in this business, so we endeavour to innovate and embrace new ideas.” He added “We also continue to examine new ‘routes to market’ and now have an online presence and a, recently employed, sales representative to further develop the trade market.”
Back in the early 80’s Randall and Harold worked for an electrical wholesale supplier in Cobridge when they spotted a gap in the market just waiting to be filled. Now they are a well-established firm with the head-office in Congleton, branches in Leek and Hanley and hundreds of active accounts. After three decades in business they have developed a reputation for quality products and excellent customer service.
Randall, who is a keen Port Vale fan, says “….personal service is very important to us. Tradesmen are generally short on time so we have to find what they want quickly.” Harold added “We look on ourselves as the Marks & Spencer of the wholesale electrical world. We pride ourselves on old-fashioned principles of quality, service and value.”
Cheshire Electrical Supplies Ltd has been a Barringtons client since they incorporated in 1983. Harold said that he valued the relationship that the firm had with Phil Wood, MD of Barringtons. “…they give us another viewpoint and act as a safety net.”
MD, Phil Wood, said that Barringtons continues to work closely with Cheshire Electrical Supplies Ltd and will be supporting Randall and Harold as they manage future growth.
